The experience
The Arctic Circle Trail is Greenland's best-known long-distance hiking route, running some 165 km of open tundra between Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut. Most people walk it over a week or more — this trip is different. It's a single guided day hike on one of the trail's finest sections, so you get the terrain, the silence and the views without carrying a tent.
You'll walk out from Sisimiut into rolling tundra country — heather, lichen-covered rock, ridgelines with views over lakes and, on a clear day, out toward the ice cap in the distance. Your guide grew up walking this ground and sets a pace the whole group can hold, with stops for food, photos and the occasional reindeer or muskox sighting.
This is real Arctic hiking terrain — uneven tundra, some ascent, and weather that can turn quickly even in summer. No technical climbing is involved, but a reasonable level of fitness matters. In exchange, you get a full day in landscape that most visitors to Greenland never set foot in.

What you get
Step by step
Meet your guide in town for a quick briefing on the route, the weather and what to carry — then a short transfer out to the trailhead.
Leave the road behind and start walking into open heath and rock, following a well-known section of the Arctic Circle Trail.
Climb to the high point of the day for sweeping views over lakes and tundra, then break for a packed lunch with your guide.
Head back down through a different valley line, with a good chance of spotting reindeer or muskoxen grazing at a distance.
Return to town tired, happy and ready for dinner — cafés and restaurants are a short walk from the drop-off point.
Practical
Honestly: this is moderate, not easy. Expect several hours on uneven tundra with a real climb in the middle, changeable Arctic weather, and no phone signal once you're out on the trail. You should be comfortable walking for a full day before you book.
That said, the pace is set to the group, not the fastest walker, and your guide carries the safety call — if conditions turn or someone is struggling, they decide whether to slow down, shorten the route or turn back. Nobody is left behind out here.

Questions
You don't need technical experience, but you should be a regular, comfortable walker. This is a moderate day hike with several hours on uneven tundra and a real climb, not a flat stroll. If you can comfortably walk 15–18 km over rough ground in a day, you'll be fine.
No — the full Arctic Circle Trail runs about 165 km between Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut and takes most hikers 7–10 days to complete. This trip is a single guided day hike on one of the trail's best sections near Sisimiut, so you get the terrain and views without the multi-day commitment.
Arctic weather can change quickly, and your guide makes the call on the day. In genuinely unsafe conditions the hike is rescheduled or refunded in full. In changeable-but-safe conditions, expect the route or pace to be adjusted rather than the trip cancelled outright.
No — once you leave Sisimiut there is little to no mobile signal for most of the route. Your guide carries a satellite communicator and full first-aid kit for emergencies. Let people know in advance that you'll be unreachable for the day.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure — cancel from your booking confirmation and the refund is issued to your original payment method within 3–5 business days. Inside 24 hours the booking is non-refundable, except for operator weather cancellations, which are always fully refunded.
The minimum age is 12, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Given the distance, terrain and pace, it suits older kids and teenagers who are already comfortable on long walks rather than young children.
